To complement the air-tight well insulated structure, it is vital that windows and doors are installed to a similar specification. These must be super-insulated draught proof products and need to be installed in such a way that no air escapes around the edges of the frame - a common problem when windows are poorly installed.

These are very high spec triple glazed inward opening tilt and turn windows completely pre-finished in the factory for quick installation with whole window U values to 0.79. This low U value is achieved through having thermally broken frames (rather than solid timber) with the sandwiched insulation avoiding the usual cold bridging through the window frame.
Optiwin use cork insulation, an excellent thermally performing product which also avoids the environmental impact associated with typical foam based products.
Externally
the windows can be clad in aluminium for a minimal maintenance approach (as shown
with a gray RAL colour) or clad externally with wood.
Correct installation of an Optiwin product is vital, the exterior edges of the frame need to be covered in insulation to avoid thermal cold bridging, your external cladding then covers the join between wall and window. This process creates a fine line around the window from the outside - an attractive modern look as seen here.

Internally the windows are typically finished with waxed timber, and can also be supplied with blinds and stays. Note that the highly insulated frames mean these windows are inward opening only. This photograph shows an Optiwin window used in this kitchen of one of our recent projects.
These products can also be supplied with slim-line blinds, similar to those shown, which fit within the glazed plane so are not damaged when the window is fully open.
