We think it is vital for all new houses to be designed with minimal carbon emissions in mind. The design details of the house are critical to achieve this. Using our precut timber frames and our extensive knowledge of low carbon housing we can work together on all aspects of your project. Build details such as an air tight external layer are critical to minimise heat loss through draughts yet architects often make this impossible to achieve through not having practical experience of actually installing the layer. We have design details all worked out so there is no difficulty in achieving excellent air tightness. Our recent Touchwood house project achieved the 'best air tightness result we've ever done' during an independent test (Hibec).
Micro generation, super insulation, low energy lighting and carbon neutral heating are all vital components to an Ecohouse. We can provide expertise on all these.
To achieve super insulation we produce a pre-cut house with walls made from Masonite 'I' beam. These beams (as shown in the picture on the right) are used to create a much thicker cavity than with solid timber - beyond 300mm in walls and 350mm in the roof. Filling this cavity with Warmcel then provides a super insulated Ecohome.
Our houses can be to any design and finish required - from render, boarding or even a brick skin. Together we can come up with a design and then view 3D models to see exactly how the house will look.
